I was in the car with Christopher on our way home from my doctor’s appointment. I had just found out that we were having another boy, whom we planned on naming Christen. Renee and Charles had gone home the previous night so I had to call her and let her know that she was having another grandson. I looked at Christopher and noticed that he kept looking in the rearview mirror every two seconds.

“What’s going on?” I asked him.

“Nothing. Are you hungry?” He replied, trying to change the subject.

“Yes. Can you stop and get some pizza from Marcello’s?”

“Of course.”

When we stopped at Marcello’s Pizza & Subs, Christopher got out of the car and ran inside. I was about to turn the radio up until his cell phone rang. I looked at the screen and saw the call was from Ashley. I usually didn’t answer his phone, but I wanted to know what she had to say.

“Hello,” I said, answering the phone.

“Can I talk to Chris?” She asked.

“Christopher is busy. But hello Ashley, this is Katherine.”

“Well hello Katherine. Since Chris is busy, could you pass a message along to him?”

“Sure Ashley. What is it?” I asked.

“Can you tell him I lost the baby?” She asked and it sounded like she was smiling.

“What baby?” I asked.

“The one I was carrying. When you guys were up here, Chris and I slept together. Of course, he didn’t use protection, and I got pregnant.”

“Okay. I’ll be sure to pass the message along to him,” I said, hanging up the phone and putting it back in the cup holder. Five minutes later, Christopher was getting back into the car with five boxes of pizza and a large coke.

“What’s wrong with you?” Chris asked as he started the car up and pulled off.

“Nothing,” I snapped. I was pissed off. I knew Christopher had slept with Ashley. But for him to fuck her without a condom, again! That shit was beyond crazy.

When we got back to the house, Je’leese was sitting on the sofa with Jiovanna and Lil Gee. Jiovanna was crying.

“Do she still have a fever?” I asked.

“No. It’s down now. It’s been down since Saturday night. Let’s just hope it stays down,” Je’leese said as Gee walked into the room with a bottle. He grabbed Jiovanna from Je’leese legs and started feeding her the bottle.

“So, girl or boy?” Gee asked.

“Got me another lil boy,” Chris said smiling. I wanted to smack that smile off his face but I kept my composure.

“What’s wrong?” Je’leese asked, noticing that I was in a foul mood.

“Can we go upstairs and talk?” I asked her.

“Yeah, I need to put Lil Gee in his bed any way,” she said as she stood up and walked up the stairs, and I followed her. “What’s going on?” She asked as she put Lil Gee in his crib.

“Ashley called while Christopher was getting the pizza. I answered the phone and she told me she’d lost the baby that she and Chris made.”

“You can’t be serious.”

“I really wish I wasn’t.
